Mwingi Town Administration is composed of five sub-sectors, namely:
i. Finance and Revenue Assurance.
ii. Trade, Commerce and Industrialization.
iii. Physical Planning, Infrastructure, Transport and Development Control.
iv. Administration and Corporate Services.
v. Environment, Culture, Recreation and Community Development.
Mwingi Town Administration objectives and priorities include:
i. Promote a safe and healthy environment in Mwingi Town.
ii. Promote and undertake infrastructural development and services within the town.
iii. Monitor the impact and effectiveness of any services, policies and programs or plans.
iv. Strengthen the economic competitiveness of Mwingi Town.
At the beginning of the plan period, the number of kilometers of road improved to bitumen standard was 7. At the end of the plan period, the number of kilometers of road improved to bitumen standard stood at 11.8. This achievement can be attributed to the support received from Kenya Roads Board (KRB) that contributed in even the exceeding of the planned targets.
The number of government public toilets at the beginning of the plan period was one with a plan to construct two more within the plan period. At the end of the plan period, the municipality managed to construct three more public toilets due to public demand.
The municipality targeted to extend the slaughterhouse during the plan period. Even though there was no extension during the plan period, repairs and maintenance was done. Lighting of the slaughter house, erection of shed & bench and repairs of the gate and fence were accomplished. Besides, installation of two 10,000 liter tanks and their basements was done. This has contributed to improved sanitation and security in the facility.
At the beginning of the plan period, there were six (6) culvert lines installed. The municipality managed to install fifteen (15) more culvert lines within plan period, against a target of forty-three (43) due to budgetary constraints.
At the beginning of the plan period, the number of kilometers of drainage channel constructed was 1 while at the end of the planning period it increased to 1.8.
The security of the municipality especially at night improved due to installation of 0.6 kilometers of street lights to supplement 11.6 kilometers which had street lights at the beginning of the planning period.
