Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has commissioned the Kyoea – Mwingi Pipeline Extension to Kalatine, a Ksh. 10.86 million project implemented during the 2025/2026 Financial Year to expand access to clean and safe water in Mumoni Ward. The project is part of the County Government’s broader investment in water infrastructure across the ward to improve water security and residents’ livelihoods.

The project extends water from the Kiambere Mwingi Main Pipeline to Kakuyu, Kativa Ngii, and Kalatine, providing clean water through three community water kiosks. It also serves five public institutions: Kakuyu Primary School, Kalatine Primary School, Kalatine Secondary School, Kalatine Dispensary, and the National Administration offices.

Now under the management of Kiambere – Mwingi Water and Sanitation Company (KIMWASCO), the project is expected to benefit more than 100 households through individual water connections, improving public health, education, healthcare services, and the socio – economic well-being of residents.

The Governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani, members of the County Executive, Mumoni Ward MCA Hon. Titus Kasinga, political and opinion leaders, and senior officers from both the County and National Governments.
